Denise Bossert earned a bachelor of arts in English education, magna cum laude, at the University of Dubuque in 1989. In 2001, she was awarded a master of arts in literature from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Bossert also studied theology at the Paul VI Institute in St. Louis. She has taught literature at the primary, secondary, and college levels and has worked as a religious education coordinator and Confirmation assistant.

The daughter and former wife of Protestant ministers, Bossert converted to the Catholic Church in 2005 after being inspired by the books of St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa of Avila. Since then, two of her children and her husband have also entered the Church. Denise writes a syndicated column called Catholic by Grace for diocesan newspapers across the United States. She has also written for Canticle Magazine (now called Women of Grace), Women for Faith and Family, and Catholic Exchange.

Bossert is a member of the Legion of Mary, Catholic Writers Guild, and ACTS Retreat Community. She has appeared on a variety of television and radio shows, including EWTN’s Journey Home and Women of Grace, the Son Rise Morning ShowCatholic Vitamins, On Call, and Seize the Day. She gives talks at parishes and to women’s groups on conversion, women of salvation history, and spiritual mentoring. Denise and her husband, John, have four children and five grandchildren and live in New Melle, Missiouri.
