The Merton Institute for Contemplative Living is a non-profit organization whose mission is to awaken interest in contemplative living through the works of Thomas Merton thereby promoting Merton's vision for a just and peaceful world.

Robert G. Toth has served as the executive director of The Merton Institute for Contemplative Living since 1998. He is the editor of the Contemplation and Action newsletter and wrote the foreword to Thomas Merton: An Introduction by William H. Shannon.

Jonathan Montaldo is the former director of the Thomas Merton Center at Bellarmine University and past president of the International Thomas Merton Society. He edited Entering the Silence, the Merton Journals, Volume 2 (1996) and The Intimate Merton: His Life from His Journals (1999) with Br. Patrick Hart. He published Dialogues with Silence: Thomas Merton's Prayers & Drawings (2001); Merton & Hesychasm: The Prayer of the Heart (2003) and wrote the introduction to The Landscape of Contemplation: A Pilgrimage to Thomas Merton's Gethsemani.
