Examination Copy Policies

High Schools

High School administrators and theology department chairs, can request review copies of high school textbooks by completing this form.

Parishes

Parishes are invited to examine titles for possible classroom use. Examination copy requests must be sent in on parish letterhead or via an email (using a parish email address) by a representative authorized to make catechetical purchases. Examination copy requests must include the DRE's name, the class name, and the anticipated enrollment.

Upon approval, examination copies will be mailed with a provisional invoice. Parishes may examine the book for 60 days before taking one of the following actions: (1) adopting the textbook; (2) paying the invoice; or (3) returning the book at the parish’s expense. If the textbook is adopted and an order for 15 or more copies is received, the student edition exam copy becomes a free desk copy (please notify us of the adoption and the order). If the parish purchases the books through Amazon, etc., send us a copy of the invoice and we will credit the student review copy. If the titles are returned, the parish needs to complete the “Return Merchandise Authorization Form” and send it back to Ave Maria Press prior to shipping the book(s).

Parishes are eligible to purchase a teacher manual when 15 student corresponding texts are purchased. Parishes are eligible for a free teacher manual when 50 corresponding texts are purchased. It is the responsibility of the Director of Religious Education to closely monitor the usage of all teacher editions. Examination copies are limited to one copy per title, per parish. We reserve the right to refuse exam copies to individuals who abuse the policy.

Please direct exam copy requests to the Sales Department, Ave Maria Press, P.O. Box 428, Notre Dame, IN 46556, or email and include “Exam Copy Request” in the subject line.
