Description

Do you desire deeper freedom? Do you feel restricted by the knots of sin and shame that conceal the true beauty of your feminine heart?

Through this collection of raw and redemptive testimonies from real Catholic women, punctuated with guided reflection and contemplative prayer, Carrie Schuchts Daunt of the John Paul II Healing Center offers you an encounter with truth and healing tailored to your specific identities as daughter, sister, bride and mother. Undone ushers you through a vulnerable search for truth through essential spiritual exercises, prayer guides, and reflection material.

Sharing personal testimonies of illness, loss of faith, rejection, promiscuity, abortion, broken marriage, infertility, miscarriage, addiction, betrayal, bulimia, and depression, the fifteen women in Undone identify shame and fear as major barriers to their relationships. In their stories, they share how their shame was untangled and their identity restored.

This chorus of bold women—including Lisa Brenninkmeyer, founder of Walking with Purpose; Jen Settle, managing director of the Theology of the Body Institute; Debra Herbeck, founder of Be Love Revolution; Judy Bailey, executive director of John Paul II Healing Center; and Jeannie Hannemann, founder and executive director of Elizabeth Ministry International—will encourage you to explore and undo the knots in your own life as well.

Daunt shares the same prayer exercises and spiritual reflection material used at the John Paul II Healing Center’s Undone women’s conferences, including

  • inner healing prayers
  • spiritual exercises for identifying core wounds
  • spiritual exercises for renouncing false belief systems
  • reflection questions

In Undone, readers find an essential guide to distinctly feminine healing that will leave them willingly and eagerly stripping away the bondage of sin and shame allowing them to become the women God calls them to be.

Freeing Your Feminine Heart from the Knots of Fear and Shame

The raw and real testimonies included in this book are your invitation to discover the nature of your true feminine identity. Through the authenticity of these testimonies, you are invited to encounter greater truth and freedom in the comfort of your own home. The women who tell these stories have waded deeply into the redemptive reality of Mary’s fiat. With openness and vulnerability, they tackle topics such as fear, purity, marriage, identity, divorce, pornography, adoption, infertility, loss, rejection, abortion, single life, motherhood, miscarriage, illness, virginity, betrayal, body image, and beauty. In sharing these stories, they wish to proclaim the truth revealed to their once-broken hearts. Authenticity is possible. Redemption is possible. Freedom is possible. Simply hand Mary your knots, embrace her surrender, and uncover your true feminine identity.

Based the Feminine Identities Outlined in Pope John Paul II’s Letter to Women

Each part begins with a brief overview of a specific feminine identity and then offers several stories highlighting the season where this primary identity was tangled and eventually untied. Each story concludes with a scriptural or spiritual reflection and study questions.

Learn to Embrace Your Feminine Identities:

Daughter

Before you were conceived in your mother’s womb, you became a beloved daughter of the Father. He chose you from the foundation of the world and willed your conception. The moment you were conceived, you also became a daughter of your mother and father.

Sister

Whether or not you have siblings, you are a sister. You became a sister when you entered this world. We all share a common humanity and have the same Creator. Apart from siblings, you may have cousins or friends who were like brothers and sisters.

Bride

Whether or not you are married, you are a bride. Christ is your eternal Bridegroom. He delights in you. He nourishes and cherishes you, beyond the capacity of any boyfriend or husband.

Mother

Whether you have biological or spiritual children, you are called to be a mother. Our Blessed Mother, Mary, is the model for all mothers. By God’s design, mothers are meant to be open to life; to love their children unconditionally; and to nurture, protect, teach, guide, and bless their children.

Prayer for Renouncing Identity Lies

In the name of Jesus Christ, I renounce the lie that ___________ (“I am alone,” “I am ugly,” “Nothing will ever change,” “I am not loved,” “If I trust I will die,” etc.). And in Jesus’ name, and through the Holy Spirit, I ask you, Father, to reveal the truth of my identity where these identity lies have taken hold of my heart. Amen.
