Ave Explores Series | Synod 2018

November 9, 2018: Key Takeaways from Week 6 of the Synod

When the Synod on Young People began, much of the Catholic world had one big question: Why does this matter? Why is it necessary and good that we talk about young people, especially in the midst of turmoil, confusion, and scandal? Ave Explores explained why the synod mattered—because young people matter.

Now that the synod is finished, the final document is being translated, and Pope Francis is writing his Apostolic Exhortation, we have to ask ourselves another big question. What’s next?

In the coming months, the Synod on Young People will continue to be analyzed and once we have translations of the final document, more people will get to work. Some dioceses are already beginning to incorporate some of the ideas of the synod. Bishop Michael Burbidge of Arlington had a listening session with the teenagers at the annual high school RALLY event and he shared his thoughts with Ave Explores what he learned from the experience.
