Marilyn Lacey, R.S.M., is founder and executive director of the nonprofit organization, Mercy Beyond Borders, the mission of which is to partner with displaced women and children overseas in ways that help them move out of extreme poverty. She has worked with refugees for many years in Africa and Asia, and as director of refugee services with Catholic Charities in San Jose, California. In 2001 she was honored by the Dalai Lama as an Unsung Hero of Compassion and has long been an advocate for refugees and migrants. She holds a master of social work degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
