Paula Huston’s popular Simplifying the Soul was principally designed for daily personal reflection throughout the forty days of Lent. In the book, readers are invited to de-clutter their minds, hearts, relationships, and souls using spiritual practices woven from the gospels, the Desert Fathers, and the author’s own wealth of spiritual experience. Based on feedback Huston received from her readers, however, she recognized how a companion resource for small groups might help those who would like to participate in Lenten activities communally. These study questions, adapted in part from a guide written by reader Diana Revell for her own community of friends, will help readers glean more from their Lenten experience.
